Cleanse Before Applying Makeup

Never apply makeup on your skin before cleaning your face with a gentle foaming cleanser and putting on a hydrating moisturizer. You should not directly apply makeup on your sensitive skin. It is best to layer sunscreen over the moisturizer before applying makeup.

The Products Should Be Non- Comedogenic

Some products are just heavy on skin, have oil based formulas and are thick in nature. If you have sensitive skin type, avoid any makeup products whether its foundation, primer, blush or concealer, that are of oil based and have thick consistency. These products are comedogenic and can clog pores and will make your skin more sensitive and worse.

Keep the Lips Hydrated

The skin of our lips is far more sensitive and thin than the skin of the rest of our face because the lips skin lacks epidermis layer and hydrolipidic film. So, they are more prone to damage and sensitivity to harsh chemicals and makeup products. Thus, in order to keep them nourished and soft, it is important to keep them hydrated and moisturized. Also, always use lip balm on your lips before applying lipstick or any other lip makeup product to minimize the damage and dryness because of the makeup.

Hygiene is the Most Important

First of all, never and just never borrow any makeup products from anyone, even if the other person also is of sensitive skin type. Your skin type is way prone to get skin infections and diseases and also allergies and borrowing makeup increases the risk of getting any skin in infection or allergies.

Secondly, putting makeup in the right way is important but at the same time, removing makeup and cleaning your face is equally important. If you have a sensitive skin type, avoid using coconut oils or any other oil to remove makeup and use mostly micellar water or makeup cleansing balms. Also, use gentle sponges to remove makeup and always make sure to double cleanse your skin before sleeping.
